Temple Bar TradFest Concerts

The Temple Bar TradFest is scheduled for 27-31 January, 2010. I went last year, loved it and am returning for this next one.

While they still have a lot of information to post for this next year, they have put up their scheduled evening concerts. Just go to the website, click on "What's On" on the left and then click on "Live Acts". Note when you get to the Live Acts, there is a difficult to see horizontal scroll bar that lets you view all six scheduled concerts. Tickets go on sale in December. (As far as a I can tell, this is the only information for the upcoming festival on the website as of this date. From an e-mail I received, I think they plan to have it all up by mid-November.)

Could be a bit of a wait, financial constraints being an influence. It's Ennis Tradfest 5-9 Nov only got confirmed recently and still a bit vague about all the program, but well worth the visit.

I only hope the management of "The Vat House" will not hunt out the musicians like they did in 08!!!

It was an absolute disgrace with a proper session in full flow to allow a crappy DJ who had been booked to entertain the visiting "Hens & Stags" to turn on his music whilst a well know Clare Concertina player was playing a tune.

Needless to say we all walked out pretty fast and I have never stood in the place since!!!

Keith you really should factor in a visit to the NW in general and Sligo in particular (we've read your wonderful trip reports tonight and understand you plan to return again and again) as we've a strong heritage of trad music from the Michael Coleman Centre in Gurteen to the South Sligo Summer School in Tubbercurry to Barry's in Grange and beyond - you'll definitely need a car, an ability to stay up late and to be here in the summer but other than that bookmark these sites for future reference:

Ragoora,

NW Ireland is definitely high in my hopes to visit, maybe even more than SW (which I'm also looking forward to). I'm especially wanting to do a trip that incorporate Counties Sligo up through Donegal (perhaps with a bit of Northern Ireland - Derry, Lower Lough Erne, etc.). So I'll be looking to your for advice!

I can't pull off a summer visit in 2010, but certainly could (and now most certainly will) in future years.

Thanks especially for the links. I guess your advice is already beginning!
