Where to stay around Clontarf

Hi

We are coming over to watch the cricket in August and will be staying for 3 nights. Could someone suggest a good place to stay which will be handy for the cricket but also not too far out from the city as we'll be wanting to head out in the evening for drinks etc and don't want be paying too much in taxi fares.

Thanks.

Clontarf Castle Hotel? It all depends on where you intend to visit.

Clontarf Castle is a good hotel and is just beside the cricket grounds. However, in looking at places to stay from which it would be easy to access the cricket grounds, you could consider staying in a more centrally located hotel near the DART (suburban rail). The cricket grounds are quite close to Killester DART station (about 10 minutes walk) and Killester Station is about 10 minutes train ride from any of the central Dublin stations including Tara and Pearse. Trains normally run every 15-20 minutes.

Staying in the city centre would give you a much greater choice of hotels and nightlife. Clontarf is a pleasant suburb but it is not famous for its nightlife!
