Areas to Avoid in Dublin, Ireland

I might be moving to Dublin for four years. Just wanted to know what areas of the city I should avoid getting housing in? Which areas have higher crime rates? I would like something near the south city centre. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Dublin is a fairly safe city though with the usual quota of dodgy areas. However, as a general indication, areas along the coast , with a few exceptions, are usually OK, as are some of the inner suburbs. However, budget is a consideration with pleasant locations such as Ballsbridge, Sandymount, Ranelagh and adjacent locations (inner suburbs on the southside), being fairly expensive.

Consider asking the question here as well http://touch.boards.ie/forum/474 it's a forum dedicated to Dublin residence as opposed to tourists.
