Most scenic route from Dublin to Adare

We will be driving from Dublin to Adare to stay at the Adare Manor villas in May. Just wondering if someone has some ideas as to the most scenic route that we could take. Would also appreciate suggested stops along the route.

The road between Dublin and Adare is motorway for 95% of the way. However there are a couple of interesting stops that can be made:

1. The National Stud and Japanese Gardens irishnationalstud.ie/visitors/15/attractions/

2. Newbridge Silver, Kildare www.newbridgesilverware.com

The motorway will also take you through the Curragh which is an interesting landscape with a racecourse.

You could go via the M6 drop past Clonmacnoise to Birr down Lough Derg over Ballina/Killaloe to Limerick. Or via Portlaoise and (over the Slivebloom to Birr) down past Nenagh.

Is it possible to go from Dublin to Adare via Rock of Cashel. I know it is out of the way; however the Rock is on our to-lists and thought we could see it on our way to Adare. If not, what are some other "off-routes" that would eventually lead us to Adare from Dublin.

Yes, it is possible, and you could also stop off in Cahir (10 miles after Cashel) and visit Cahir castle. Take the N7/M7/M8 - motorway, all the way from Dublin to Cashel. Here's a Google Map link for the route - http://g.co/maps/keuvb
