The two main Dublin stations

I will be travelling from Belfast to Dublin and then on to Athy and need advice about transferring between the two main Dublin railway stations with a heavy suitcase.

Or is it easier to go by coach from Belfast? I'm visiting relatives living between Baltinglass and Athy.

Many thanks.

The LUAS tram stops outside both stations, so transfer should not be a problem

As Soonas said, the LUAS runs between the two station. When you arrive at Connolly Station from Belfast, after going through the ticket check barrier, just continue straight on and you will see the LUAS at street level. There is an escalator, and I think there may also be a lift available, if you need that. You will need euro coins for the LUAS fare, and you buy your ticket - BEFORE boarding - form a ticket machine on the LUAS platform. The LUAS stops immediately outside Euston Sataion.

If you get a fare from Belfast to Athy, the LUAS journey is included. It may be more expensive than buying 3 separate tickets though.

The luas tram is an easy way to get between Connolly and Heuston. The fare will be about 1.50euro and takes 15mins. 1 in 3 trams towards Heuston serve Connolly so it might save you a bit of time to walk across to Busaras (the bus station) across the street which is the next stop. The info screens at Connolly also say when the next trams depart from Busaras
