1 Day from Dublin to Northern Ireland

Hi All,

We have decided to use our "extra" day in Dublin for a trip to Northern Ireland. We know this makes for a long day, but it is the only way we can fit in any of Northern Ireland.

We are currently looking at two itineraries and would appreciate your input. We are thinking of taking a Giant's Causeway tour (which spends minimal time in Belfast, but you do get a "taste" of the city) or a "Belfast City Tour" which gives much more time in Belfast and adds some stops along the way (Drogheda and Monsasterboice).

If this is the ONLY time we get to spend in Northern Ireland, which would you suggest (or is there another tour that hits different sites which you would recommend for Northern Ireland from Dublin!!

THANK YOU!!

I would pick Giants Causeway. Saying that though, it's a really long day from Dublin on a bus..... Are you sure you don't want to tour closer to Dublin? Belfast is nice but it's a city and since you're coming from Dublin the causeway would different.

If you only have a day, it has to be the Giant's Causeway.

Dublin and Belfast have two completely different vibes but if you only have a day definitely go the the Causeway. It is the only World Heritage Natural site on the island and one of only 188 in the whole world.

I think I'd opt for The Giants Causeway too, it's a long day but if you take a tour there's not much stress involved.

We are all assuming that you mean to travel during the summer months and therefore Giants Causeway is desirable if the weather is fine. However there is a lot to see in Belfast too. The Black Taxi tour of the Falls & Shankill roads is popular to get a guided flavour of the Belfast community, troubles etc The Titanic experience takes around three hours and is ideal if the weather is poor. Belfast also has plenty of shops, pubs and restaurants if you want to spend time walking around the city centre. We normally recommend the train from Dublin to Belfast.
