The Shelbourne or Westin (though not in the same league).

The Shelbourne is the grand old lady of Dublin hotels and is absolutely beautiful.

The Westbury is also top class and in a great location.

Have you looked at the reviews of Dublin hotels on TA? It should give you a pretty good idea of which ones are rated highly.

Yes, I have looked at the hotels on TA; but there are soooooo many! I will look into your recommendations and go from there.

Many thanks!

As both the Russell and Hibernian are sadly no more. I'd book the Shelbourne. Though I've also enjoyed my stays at the Conrad and Westbury.

I would say The Merrion, The Westbury and The Shelbourne.

I've stayed at the Westbury, and can recommend it - a fine five-star.

Thank you all for your recommendations! I have another question. Is it feasible to stay in Ballsbridge outside of the city center? The Bed & Breakfasts out there seem lovely. Is the bus ride a hassle to the center or not such a concern?

Many thanks!
