Dublin sight seeing

We have a very open schedule for our multi week trip to Ireland. We are starting in Dublin and would like suggestions on how long is needed in Dublin to see the major sights and not be rushed.

I would say that a 3-day visit to Dublin would allow you to see all the major sites, including the museums, in a leisurely fashion. If you are not interested in visiting the national museums, you could probably see Dublin in 2 days. If you want to include some of the less visited sites, then add another day.

Good advice from Longhorn there. You can also visit some of the outer suburban towns by the sea via the local DART train, Howth and Malahide to the north of the city are popular as too are Dun Laoghaire and Dalkey on the South of the city.

You can also take a day tour to Newgrange from Dublin, or visit Wicklow. Plenty of options whatever you decide.
