Possible one and a half day trip from Dublin

Hey all,

I'll be in dublin from 4/7 - 7/7 and I am thinking of spending 2 days 2 night exploring dublin city (4-5/7) and on 6/7 -7/7 i plan to do a 1.5 day trip outside of dublin with car transport. (1.5 day because my friend, who will be driving us around arrives dublin on sat morning 9am and leaves dublin on sundary 10pm). Are there any suitable day trips that we can spend a night at that you can recommend?

Thank you all!

Kilkenny is a handy drive and always has a good buzz, if you want to overnight. For me though, I'd head to Newgrange , Knowth , Dowth Monasterboice and Mellifont and overnight somewhere like Drogheda or even go as far as Carlingford.

Carlingford is supposed to be a good place to go overnight, very short driving time from Dublin City.

I agree with 171956. Drive through the Dublin mountains via The Sally Gap and head for Glendalough. Then onwards to Glenmalure and overnight here. http://www.glenmalurelodge.ie/
