Where to stay in Dublin?

Hi everyone and Happy New Year!

Can anyone suggest where is the best part of Dublin to stay considering local attractions and nightlife? We prefer to walk around the city rather than using transportation.

Thanks

That does look like a lovely hotel.. but can anyone suggest something a tad cheaper..not cheap and nasty.. just maybe a bit cheaper.. lol

We are only in town for three days so staying central is important to us. we will not have a car either. Would love to be within walking distance to some fun pubs and restaurants.. but we are over 50 so don't really want to be on a street lined with packed bars.. ( we might enjoy a stroll down such a street, but we like a decent night sleep too!)

Try the Academy Plaza which is just off O'Connell Street.

We also like to walk round places and find it a really conveniently located hotel.

It's a ten minute walk to the bottom of Grafton Street and likewise a ten minute walk to the centre.

Have a look at the location and see what you think. We've stayed there for the last five years.

The aircoach drops you outside the Gresham and it's literally a two min walk round the corner.

We've also stayed at the Gresham which we loved but it's always double the price and just not worth it unless you can get a deal which we did the year we stayed there.

Hi Joan

You could also try Buswells hotel or any of the hotels in The O'Callaghan Hotel group and see if they fall within your budget. Buswells is ideally located on a quiet street opposite the Dail (our House of Parliament) and very near Grafton Street, St Stephens green and the surrounding areas with plenty of bars and restaurants.

Lots of recommendations here for Buswells and O'Callaghans over the years. Maybe the management of these hotels might acknowledge the business the various TA contributors have brought them. Maybe a thank you for 2014?
