permission has been refused for the two extra shows. council is being blamed, however the promoters are the main culprits as they had no actual permission to hold these extra concerts. you just do not sell tickets for a show for which no permission has been granted or even applied for.

Garth Brooks went on record today (according to the news) that it's 5 shows or none. He won't choose 2 nights to cancel, he said it's like "Having to choose one child over another".

yes, it appears that he is now trying to blackmail the council. his original contract was for 3 shows. he was happy with that, so what is wrong with continuing with his three contracted shows?

Greed Nakagoli - that's all it is.

Between himself, the concert promotors and the powers that be at the GAA.

All sales of concert tickets are subject to Licence. - they didn't get it for 5 concerts (and rightly so). End of.

I've a certain amount of pity for the ticket holders, no sympathy for the three parties mentioned above, and a huge amount of sympathy for those living in the environs of Croke Park, and other concert sites who these big guns think they can hoodwink and bully into submission.

Good for them for taking a stand.

He can dig his cowboy heels in and stomp around as much as he likes. Looks like he's not getting his way this time!

And don't get me started on the GAA!

And for those intendant on travelling to the Concert (and to keep the topic travel related!) Iarnrod Eireann will refund those who have prepurchased train tickets for the cancelled dates irishrail.ie/news/garth-brooks-concert-cance…

And some consumer information and "know your rights" in relation to the cancellations

The three shows will go ahead surly. He playing hard ball and holding the city and promoters at ransom.

He wont pull the plug on 3 massive pay days for him. As per previous post between himself, the concert promotors and the money men at the GAA, the say the €€€€€ and the reaction to the first shows selling out and getting greedy.

Either all 5 will still go ahead or 3 will for sure. He wont pull the plug on all 5.

The thing is the GAA sat down with the local residents and agreed that there would only be 3 concerts a year so an agreement was already met with the locals. Yet there has already been 3 concerts this year with One direction playing 3 days. So why were another 5 days agreed to when there was no permission. I am a huge GAA fan in both codes but I don't agree that local residents should be held to ransom when they already had an agreement in place and organisers and the GAA went behind there back to organise not 1 but 5. More sell out dates.

They should have sat down with the residents and discussed the extra two concerts before they advertised and sold tickets.
