Evening clothing

The latest discussion I can find on this topic is 2010 so thought a more current response might shed more light on the subject.

Going out to dinner to a restaurant a few steps above a pub as far as being upscale is concerned--do many women wear nice slacks, top and flats--or is that not quite up to speed?

Thank you----

A woman can wear anything she like, you'll be grand!

Honestly anything you wear in the smart casual front will be fine.

Some people really dress up, lots of others don't. It's a really mixed bag pretty much everywhere even high end places. Wear what you like to wear

Avoid the stretch velour sweatpants, lurid green "I've got Irish roots " Aran jumper (maide of 100% PURE acrylic and "knitted" in some Chinese factory and you'll do fine ;)
