Parkings open to pedestrians at night ?

I will be in Dublin in October for 2 nights and I plan to sleep in my car. I would like to know if the car parks such as the "Q-park" were open at night for pedestrians so that I can reach mine to sleep peacefully.

Thank you in advance.

if the car park is listed as being a 24 hr car park then you should not have a problem. but why on earth would you want to sleep in your car? there are plenty of b and bs around, and hostels. at least you would be able to wash and change clothes!

All of the car parks would be patrolled by security - I can't see how they would allow someone to sleep in their car - if that was the case anyone would be able to go into a car park and camp down for the night in a hidden corner.

Thanks for your answers. My car is like a second home to me. I don't have a lot of money, so it's a way not to spend too much.

Some further comments here on sleeping in your car in Ireland, from 2009:

Have a look at these hostels:

Some of these budget B&Bs are excellent value considering there's a full breakfast included:

In the past, I've stayed in both Botanic Villa and Botanic View in the Glasnevin and Drumcondra areas in Dublin 9 - north of the city centre - and would happily do so again:

And, if you don't mind being further out from the city center, here's a place in Swords, north Co Dublin - about which I know nothing and I have never used AirBnB, so not familiar with that concept:

Conifere, just try to ignore the non-helpful comments. You might try couch surfing as an alternative if this doesn't work out for you - I heard it discussed on the radio last year.

It's not against the law to sleep in your car here, but depending on where you park you may attract unwanted attention from thugs with nothing better to do.

Thank you, Uasal and NiceIrlande, your answers are really helpfull.

Seems like it is not an usual thing in Ireland to sleep in a car, I've done this in many cities without any problem I don't think Dublin is a worse city than biggest ones like Paris, Madrid or Barcelona. But indeed, there is always a risk.

Thank you again, I will maybe try cheap hostels or couchsurfing.
