You could fly to Galway Airport but its funding is being cut at the end of this year so it may no longer be viable. You have both Ireland West Airport Knock and Shannon, Shannon is an hour on the motorway and Knock about an hour and a half.

Lots of places to stay in the city from b&b to hotels etc. There are lots of b&b's on College Road where the game will be played and then the city centre is less than a ten minute walk in.

Shannon would be the Airport from Birmingham International with Aer Arann then a bus up to Galway. As rojo has said there are a good few B&B up on College Road.

Ryanair Ireland West Airport Knock - Bristol, Luton, or Knock Birmingham with BMI Baby

Buses or taxi about 1hr to Galway from there.

Sorry situation Knock Airport, Yes there are bus's every 2hours but they don't fit most flights especially from Brum (our neighbour uses this route but has a car) and then it's 2hours on the bus into Galway , so it can take 4 hours from Landing into town.
