traditional irish music Galway

Travelling to Galway, in particular, as a part of a 14 night stay.

Please, can someone advise me the most popular hotels/venues to partake of this wonderful entertainment, preferably over a few pints of Guinness, (or Murphy's).

thanks

Last May, after a pleasant meal at Trattoria in Quay Street, we happened upon a very jolly session at the hotel next door. Just follow your ears!

And there's not just stout in Ireland, wonderful though it may be; Galway Hooker is an excellent pint of bitter, for those so inclined! (Also available at Doheny & Nesbitt in Dublin...)

In Galway city I prefer the second floor at the Crane Bar. The patrons are there to hear music and very respectful to the musicians. However a fresh pint doesn't lose its importance.

Ti Coili and Taaffes on Mainguard St and Shop St are very popular and the pints are good in both.
