Galway or Ballyvaughan as a base?

Just asked a few questions but have one more: to see the area of the Burren, Galway, and Cliffs of Moher, would it be better to base ourselves in Galway for two nights or in the countryside somewhere around Ballyvaughan? Thanks for any suggestions...

Same answer as your other Question although Kinavra would be the shorter run into Galway.

Kinvara is a nice town with a castle and good choices for shopping/dining. We stayed at the Clareview House B&B and enjoyed our stay very much.

When will your visit take place?

If it coincides with a big event in Galway city, traffic might be very busy and accommodation more expensive with fewer options.

Galway is a city, although not a huge one; Ballyvaughan and Kinvara are much smaller towns.

thanks again for your help. We will be visiting the area from March 30th to April 3rd (2013). A very subjective question, but is Galway worth a visit if time is limited?

My Birthday, Good Friday (pubs are Dry) and Easter weekend. I recommend the Merriman Hotel in Kinvara which should at least have a residents bar.

Getting confused Good Friday is the 29th old age setting in! Unfortunately though the Island of Ireland is Dry one day a year. Hotels are permitted to serve residents but pubs will be closed. The Merriman is still a good option for Kinvara though. http://www.merrimanhotel.com/

Stay overnight in Kinvara, but defintely make a day trip into Galway. You won't be disappointed. It is a very walkable city. Have a great visit.
