I'm going there in early July with my 12 year old son. Is it worth staying there? Still working on what and where we will go for 10 days.

Hello Collegetour2020

I'm sure you will find plenty to see and do, we still do after over twenty years of visiting!

There will be lots for you and your son to do in the city and some of the nearby towns too.

Just to whet your appetite;

If he likes horses, there's a riding centre about six miles (9km) from Galway and you have a choice how long you want to ride for.

www.moycullenriding.com

There's an array of boat trips to enjoy (if you have sea legs lol)

If he fancies being a rally driver, there's an indoor karting centre in Galway, great fun!!

www.galwaycitykarting.ie

Just outside of the city there's a good sports and leisure complex enjoyed by adults and children alike

www.pureskills.ie

There's another karting track at Loughrea (approx an hour from Galway) and they've not long ago opened a paint balling experience, which is great fun too ;-)

There's just a few ideas and recommendations that we've done or friends have, I put some adventurous ones down as a twelve year old may prefer days like that.

There are also local walking tours, beautiful Churches to see, plenty of historical places to visit.

Then there's swimming pools (if your Hotel does not have a leisure centre)

For more local tour info try www.lallytours.com

Hope this info helps.

Where have you eaten breakfast? I'm a fan of a huge Irish breakfast.

Hi Jamie

One of my favourite breakfast spots when I lived in Galway was Lynchs Cafe on Shop Street (great for lunch too). It was a Saturday morning staple.

Bag a seat by the window and watch the world go by.

The Warden will be happy with the choice too
