Train Service

Is the Irish Rail service the same as Rail Europe? If not what is difference between the two rail services?

Rail Europe is a booking service for rail travel in Europe. It is a subsidiary of SNCF - the French national railway company.

Irish Rail is the rail operator for services in Ireland. It operates a shared service to Belfast with Translink - the Northern Ireland public transport provider

So if you book through Rail Europe, they are just acting as agent for Irish Rail?

Yup!

I put in a sample for the 10am train Dublin to Cork on 25th June and Rail Europe quoted me from $89

The Irish Rail website quoted me €19.99

Now I don't have the current rates of exchange by I reckon the I.É fare is a LOT cheaper.
