2 days in Killarney

We are in Killarney for a day, and a night and then heading to clonakilty Any suggestions on the best use of time? We are thinking dingle peninsula on the first day and then doing as much of ring of Kerry as we can on the second day. In reading it looks like the Killarney national park is part of the ring of Kerry. I have seen mixed reviews on the muckross house but good reviews of the torch waterfall. Again any suggestions on the best use of our time is appreciated. Have also read about Ross castle

It is our first time in Ireland so if there are things we should definitely skip we would appreciate that also. Thanks in advance for taking the time to reply

Depends on the picture not a piece of the jigsaw.. The National Park, Muckross, Gap of Dunloe and the Black valley all worth a look.. Most of the best parts of the ring of Kerry require getting off piste rather than the roads big enough for tour bus's..

Reviews and opinions are made through the eyes of those making the statement.. My eyes have seen a lot of the island of Ireland so wouldn't be going north but taking in what is at hand.

The problem with the Ring of Kerry is that its pretty much an all or nothing thing, not something you can dip in and out of. The Ring is situated on the Iveragh Peninsula (the bit sticking out between the Beara and Dingle Peninsulas.

And as Tony has said, the bits OFF the Ring are probably the best bits.

These include:

Valentia Island - accessible via a bridge at Portmagee

Skelligs Chocolate Factory and St Finian's Bay www.skelligschocolate.com

Ballinskelligs Bay - google image it

Derrynane House heritageireland.ie/en/…derrynanehouse

In addition to Muckross House and Gardens (Gardens are a must-see, the house can be skipped if necessary) and

Torc Waterfall (named after the celtic Torc neckpiece http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Torc

I'd skip Ross Castle on this trip.

But again as Tony has said, it would be great if you could contextualise the Killarney element. That way we can get a feel of what you are interested in and what you have already included.

Thanks very much for your replies. We did do do dingle peninsula today and it was spectacular. We do have to go to clonakilty because my husband wants to see a castle of his surname and clonakilty is close to that
