Staying near Jerpoint Abbey - dinner recommendations?

Hi everyone!

We'll be staying at the Abbey House B&B near Jerpoint Abbey in late August for one night and would love some recommendations for dinner. We will have a car and can drive outside of the immediate area.

Nothing too high, price-wise - but other than that, we're open to anything from pubs to cafes to restaurants, etc.

Thanks in advance!

Holly

Would you consider going into Kilkenny city or do you want more local places?

HarveyIreland - Thanks for your reply! Yes, we would drive to Kilkenny city. I've been tooling around the restaurants on here but wanted a more precise perspective. As it stands, we might be in Kilkenny city anyway so that's a very good option.

The prices in the bar in Mount Juliet are not too pricey and definately worth the short trip

Mount Juliet do an early bird menu in the Kendal's restaurant. And I agree the bar menu is also good food at a reasonable price. It is definitely worth a little extra for the pleasure of walking around the grounds on a lovely August evening.

Also in Thomastown is Cafe Sol - an excellent restaurant and the sister restaurant to the one of the same name in Kilkenny.

So, with three places to choose from in Mount Juliet and Cafe Sol in Thomastown, I would not see the need to travel to Kilkenny.

Pubs serving food are also there in Thomastown, as well as an Indian restaurant.

I know Abbey House well and I am sure the owner will put you right about local restaurants.
