Breakfast in Sligo

We re booked in to stay at the Radisson Sligo in a week's time, but on a room-only rate. Is there anywhere in Sligo town where we will be able to get a good, cheap, hearty, traditional, Irish breakfast??

Hi WACT

You mentioned in another post that you're heading out to Strandhill for a Seaweed Bath - right beside the Seaweed Baths on the Seafront there is a Cafe called Shells, you should be able to get your breakfast there. Another place that springs to mind in Sligo town itself is Lyons Cafe upstairs in Lyons Department store - a real old style cafe that hasn't changed much in years.

I sure some others will be able to give you more ideas.

Thanks. We plan to do some shopping in Sligo before heading round to Strandhill, so hoped to get some breakfast there before we hit the shops. Will check out your recommendations.

Hope this isn't too late? We're never in town early enough to be looking for breakfast ourselves but three places you might want to try in a hunt for a traditional Irish breakfast would include:

*

Lyons Cafe (in the department store, as mentioned by dubfam)

ireland-guide.com/establishment/lyons_cafe.7…

*

The Glasshouse Hotel

*

Pepper Alley

*

There are plenty of places for a more contemporary style 'all day' breakfast/brunch both in town and along the banks of the River Garavogue such as:

*

Cafe Fleur

*

Tobergal Lane Cafe

*

The Atrium Cafe (in 'The Model' modern art gallery)
