Few days in Derby with friends

We have friends in Lincoln and want to meet up somewhere inbetween. If we go for the weekend on the train it can be a nightmare on a Sunday getting back .

So I have come up with a weekend of shopping and nightlife in Derby.

Advice on where to stay and what to do would be much appreciated.

Cheers Jo

The railway station is about a mile from the main shops, although there are some excellent special clothing and household shops on the north side of town as well. Bennetts has a good range of upmarket goods and a branch of a top restaurant on site.

Night life is either in the centre or out on the north side, from my limited knowledge.

Handy hotels near the station are the Midland / Hallmark, the European and the Stuart. Check the reviews for suitability. The Holiday Inn on the other side of the tracks is also well recommended but is further from the shops.

On the north side you might look at Jury's Inn or the Cathedral Quarter hotel, this is a 2 mile cab-ride from the station and of course a 1 mile walk back through town to the Westfiled centre on Traffic Street.
