City centre or nearer Pride Park

Hi

Coming down for the Rangers game is it best to have a drink in the centre of Derby and then set off to Pride Park?

Pride Park is not far from the centre. If you are coming by train, the Brunswick and the Alexandra near the station are very good pubs.

Hi

Plenty of pubs/bars to choose from in the city centre, The Exeter Arms is a very good real ale place. Then as David says a short walk to Pride Park.

There is a Wetherspoons (The Standing Order) in the city centre about a mile away, near Walkabout which is on the Market Place. The free shuttle bus will take you 2/3 of the distance - as far as the bus station - leaving a 500 metre walk. There is a pub Waterfall across from the rail station which has some similarities to the Wetherspoons style, including TV.

Hi

The Smithfield on Meadow Rd is near to the railway station and Pride Park. Spoke to the landlord Scott and they will be opening early.
