Week in Manchester with new girlfriend

I have recently moved to Manchester and have my new girlfriend coming to stay. As I haven't lived here long I haven't had the chance to find my own favourite places but still would like to have a few places to take her to impress her with. This could include restaurants, walks, sites of interest...basically anything that would be nice for a couple to be able to go to together. Thanks for helping me out!

Where in Manchester do you live please? In the city centre the art gallery is wonderful as is the People's Museum but if you live nearer, say Styal, then that is a great day out.

Quarry Bank Mill is a National Trust property in Styal.

There is also a women's prison at Styal, but I don't think you'll want to go there! 😉

There's also Salford Quays where you will find The Lowry theatre and shopping mall, the Imperial War Museum North (free entry), Media City and the Corrie studios. And you can go into the the Blue Peter Garden for free which is next to Media City metro stop.

Back in the centre of Manchester is the Northern Quarter which has lots of independent pubs, bars, cafes, restaurants and shops.

There's the Trafford centre. Most girlfriends enjoy a trip there.

What about a trip to the Royal exchange theatre, to see theatre in the round. Elizabeth Gaskill's house is worth a visit. Or the Victorian baths are worth visiting as well. Also maybe going to the East Lancashire heritage railway getting off at Ramsbottom. Is well worth a day out. Or a trip to the Bridgewater Hall to see the Halle or BBC Philarmonic orchestra?

In Didsbury, Fletcher Moss Gardens/Park are very lovely for a stroll and explore. Just behind the Didsbury pub at the bend in Wilmslow Road.

I'd also go to the Northern Quarter, Salford Quays, Grub food at Mayfield on a Friday/Saturday/Sunday is excellent if you like street food. Altrincham Market is worth a look too if you like eating out.

It really depends what sort of food you want. Being obvious China town for Chinese food from across the sub continent, Japanese food, Korean food, Vietnamese food ect, Rusholme for Pakistani food, Indian food and Middle Eastern food. West Didsbury has a vibrant food scene on Burton Road, and close by Greens a gourmet veggie restaurant.

Also with regards to the Lowry, The Lowry art gallery itself is a must to see at least once. Also the Manchester Art gallery near China town is well worth visiting. If you are going to Rusholme The Whitworth art gallery is well worth going to, along with the nearby park, and the Gallery of Costume( History of clothes). Is worth a visit as well. Also nearby is the Pankhurst Centre which gives a history of Emily Pankhurst.
