Young 50 year old males

6 of us coming to Manchester this weekend, staying near Printworks. We are looking for pubs where we will not be surrounded by kids. Somewhere the more mature drinkers go at the weekend.

We are up for a good time and will be out until late but don't want to be in the wrong places. Can anyone help? Thanks

best pubs / bars for yourselves will be :

in the northern qtr area and surrounds; the castle, the city, crown and kettle, and fringe. you may also like matt and phreds - a jazz club. very chilled.

around the town hall, there is the town hall tavern and two of my favourites - mr.thomas' and sam's chophouses. also the old nag's head, city arms, waterhouse ( a wetherspoons) and the vine inn.

in exchange square (where the big wheel is) you've got sinclairs oyster bar, the wellington, the crown and anchor and the mitre hotel.

on portland street / oxford road areas, you can find the old monkey, the circus tavern (ray winstone drinks here when in town) which has the smallest bar in europe. for a late night, i don't think you'll feel too old at fab cafe.

just off oxford road, on grt.bridgewater steet, there are three great pubs - rain, peveril of the peak and the briton's protection. can recommend all of those. also off oxford road, the opposite side to grt bridgewater street is the lass o gowrie.

can't think of any more at the mo.

You might want to try Monroes on London rd or the Millstone on Thomas st.
