My Fave is the waterhouse weatherspoons situated near town hall, it has different rooms and it s more chilled out than some rowdy weatherspoons, we always go in there,

as kazz says, the waterhouse is the only city centre one i'd recommend. the ford maddox brown, in rusholme, is decent, but a long walk!

mulligans and o'sheas are the only irish bars i can think of:

Best and Wetherspoons in the same sentence? sorry I will just put in the Irish part. O'Shea's by Whitworth Street as already linked, and Waxy's in the Printworks.

Waterhouse is a great bar. Would also recommend a quick pint in the moon over water - great decor and a massive bar.

There are some Irish bars in Levenshulme, but it can be a bit of a trek
