The Palace Hotel

I will be staying in the Palace hotel in June, can you reccomend any good restuarants or pubs for 4 people all late 20's? how far is the curry mile from this restuarant and is it worth a visit?

Thanks,

JD

Curry Mile is a 5 min bus ride away - I really used to like it years ago but much prefer places in the centre now.

The Palace is a nice hotel you are a 5 min walk away from the village and 5 minutes from Portland Street and 10 mins or so away from Deansgate and Piccadilly.

I like the Alibi at the top of Portland Street - there is a weatherspoons next to it.

Come out of the hotel turn right walk past the palace theatre and its basically straight ahead - 5 mins away.

good pubs /bars nearby: lass o gowrie, the temple, odder, kro 2, thirsty scholar and others.

don giovanni is a decent italian restaurant, across the road (good but not amazing) or cocotoo is another italian. there are a few more in the quadrangle, off oxford road.

i'd go to rusholme just for the atmosphere. try darbar or spicy hut.

One of the city's very best Indian restaurants is two mins walk from your hotel. Come out the main entrance, turn left and left again (at the HSBC), go past the Lass O'Gowrie (great pub) and then, on the other side of the road, is East-Z-East. Brilliant food.

Rusholme (the curry mile) is well worth a visit but the food can be very hit and miss. Worth a go though.

For other alternatives, turn left just after the Lass and you get to the Middle Kingdom Chinese restaurant. Only been once a couple of weekends ago but thought it was superb.

Opposite your hotel is the Cornerhouse cinema and bar. Very arty, trendy and a nice place to drink.

Just to the side of your hotel and within the building is a good casino.

Great hotel for location and for architecture.

It's about 15 miles. A black cab could cost about £30.00-£35.00.

Far better is the train. Get a train to Oxford Road Station (not all Manchester bound trains stop at Oxford Road so check).

As you come out of Oxford Road and down the ramp you are looking at the main entrance for your hotel. Not much more than 100 yards from the platform.

Thanks NFMAC, do you know if the Arndale center is near the hotel for some shopping? Also is there any sporting events on from the 3-7 June that I could attend?

Thanks,

The Arndale would be about a 10 minute or so walk from your hotel. The Visit Manchester website has a city centre map you can download - your hotel is numbered 33, in grid D5; the Arndale is mainly in D5.

www.visitmanchester.com/#/discover/maps.aspx

The same website has a "whats on" section that may help with events.

The free Metroshuttle bus services run round the city centre - route map downloads from
