Good restaurant in Manchester area

Hi, my husband and I will bed visiting Manchester in early October. I suppose we are foodies (but could eat anything!) and want a nice meal in Manchester. The French us already booked out. Can anyone make any other recommendations?

Look forward to hearing your suggestions and thanks in advance!

Simon Rogan's new place, also at the Midland, http://www.mrcoopershouseandgarden.co.uk/

Aiden Byrne's new place http://www.manchesterhouse.uk.com/

James Martin's new place http://www.jamesmartinmanchester.co.uk/

Australasia http://www.australasia.uk.com/

Personally I'd recommend heading out of town (just 10 mins in cab) and try Aumbry in Prestwich http://www.aumbryrestaurant.co.uk/

Or in the city centre I really like 63 Degrees http://www.63degrees.co.uk/

There are loads of other more casual places where you can still get a decent meal - Neighbourhood, Artisan, Zinc, Northern Quarter Restaurant and Bar, Bakerie, Grill on New York Street, Grill on the Alley, Room, Browns, Alberts Shed, Sams Chop House, Thomas's Chop House

Such a shame the french is booked out as it is fab - i seriously would go for lunch if its just the evening booked up as the menu is the same so you will still get the desired effect. Otherwise Australisia is good if you like sushi. Gaucho is very good for steak and if you have your heart set on tasting menus then Aumbry in Prestwich is a good bet. Otherwise there is Alberts Shed in castlefield http://albertsshed.com/ or http://www.anniesmanchester.co.uk/ (owned by soap star Fizz from Corrie)

Didsbury is very up and coming for 'foodies', i recommend you have a look at the menu for http://therosegardendidsbury.com/.
