France in February

It is our 25th wedding Anniversary in February, We have not been to Paris yet but we have heard it can be brutally cold, that Winter is not the time to go to France. Opinions, suggestions?

It depends on what you mean by "brutally" cold but it is likely to be 4-9 degrees c during the day, and may be below freezing, depending on the weather. It's not Florida, but it's not Alaska either.

And in 2010 it snowed in Florida - which was also exceptional. So would you avoid Florida because you don't like the cold?

It may be cold, it may be relatively warm:- +17c in Paris in February is not unheard of either. There's no way of predicting what the weather will be like.

Think Montgomery or Atlanta....not Arctic, but has the potential to be cold and snowy!

It might rain, it might snow, it will be cold - but maybe not freezing. The sky might be bright blue and the sun might come out.

Decide you're going to have a wonderful time, whatever the weather and bring lots of layers and a waterproof/windproof coat. Buy an umbrella when you're there if you need one, or a hat, or gloves. It's only weather - you'll survive!

On the other hand, you could go to somewhere like Nice if you haven't already visited there, where it might also rain or snow - but you're also likely to get sunshine and blue skies. There are wonderful places to visit in the area, great museums and some wonderful restaurants too. You wouldn't need a car there either, as public transport is excellent.
