how to spend 3 days before starting the Camino

I am arriving in Paris from Australia on 6.9.14 with 3 friends (we are 50 + year old women). We are planning to start walking the Camino from St Jean Pied de Port on Thursday 11.9.14. None of us have been to France for over 20 years although plan to return next year. We are not sure if we should stay in Paris for a few days or travel straight from the airport and enjoy some time in southern France. Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

My husband will be walking the Camino shortly after you and we are planning to spend the first few days recovering from our flight from Australia, by taking a leisurely wander around Paris. I guess it depends on what you are interested in seeing.

The town of Biarritz is lovely and well worth a visit. The surrounding area is also beautiful villages including the town of Ainhoa

You could also take Le Petit Train de la Rhune http://www.rhune.com/fr/index.aspx

The area is in the foothills of the Pyrenees and is very much worth a visit.
