Cathedral on May Day

Will the Cathedral be open on May Day, and will there be an English tour? Do we need to do anything in particular to sign up for the tour in advance?

Merci

The Cathedral should be open but the tours of the crypt do not happen on Sundays and holy days. Malcolm Miller presents two different tours, one in the morning and one in the afternoon, the usual thing being to turn up at thegift shop inside the cathedral just before the tour, usually noon and 2.45pm

You could contact him to find out, as he is also sometimes away on lecture tours.

Some info here.

Since May 1 is neither a Sunday nor a holy day the cathedral will be open during the same hours as it is on any other ordinary day of the year.

With 1 May being a legal holiday, though (schools and government offices closed, malls open with "ouverture exceptionelle"), will that affect the opening hours?

Even in France cathedrals are still churches not government institutions. Holidays and holy days are two different things though they sometimes coincide as, for example, on Christmas Day.
