Picnic table/spot near Mercier?

Are there any picnic spots in Epernay? Close to Mercier is a bonus. Can we just throw down a table cloth in a shady spot, or that unacceptable/impossible? I honestly have no idea what the landscape of Epernay looks like, is it rural or more of a city?

Epernay is a small town so you may struggle for a picnic spot. The town hall at the opposite end of the Avenue de Champagne to Mercier does have some nice gardens which may be suitable.

The gardens behind the town hall are indeed very agreeable with a little fountain and pond and pretty places to sit. I saw people eating lunch on the benches there. I don't recall any picnic type tables but certainly grass and small children playing. You can get an idea through Google street view.

Just in case you don't know, you can "walk" the streets by placing the little yellow man on a street and moving him around.

The avenue is generally lined with the champagne houses and leads down, past the town hall and visitors centre, to a small square, Place de la Republique, where there are also some brasseries.

Thank you both! Where is the best place to park our car? Are there any restricted areas for driving?

There is a large municipal car park with reasonable rates at the bottom (off the Place de la République on the Moët side) of the Avenue de Champagne, a 2 minute walk from the Hôtel de Ville.
