World War 1 sites near Reims or Calais?

My wife and I will be driving back to Calais from the south of France in late June. Our plan is to stop off in Reims for a day to break up the journey. We want to visit the catherdral and a champagne house/vineyard. Whilst we are in the area, I feel we should also pay our respects to those who lost there lives in World War 1. Are there any interesting WW1 sites near Reims or near the route between Reims and Calais?

Thanks

Compiegne has the replica of the railway carriage where the Armistice was signed.

Soissons had many troops billeted there and much other history.

Reims was practically razed to the ground, ditto Arras.

You will find many small memorials and graveyards, just driving around the area...

Interesting, sobering and devastating.

The Chemin des Dames is just northwest of Reims and there was heavy fighting there (the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Battles of the Aisne) and many cemeteries and battlefields as well as an interesting museum can be visited. Check these links for more info:

I've written a photo report about visiting that area and it includes The Chemin des Dames and the town of Laon if you want to have a look: http://tinyurl.com/cr52tkf

We were in the Champagne region in 2012. One drive took us to the town of Dormans where there is an impressive war memorial and park related to WW1.

Michael, Celestina and myself answered on your other thread. I gave you details about Vimy Ridge and Celestina mentioned the Chemin des Dames but you dismissed our contributions without thanks saying "Wrong Forum".
