what to do during cruise stop-over

We will be visiting Corsica during our cruise for a day. What would be recommended in this port of call.

Corsica is a big island. What is the name of the port?

We will be in Ajaccio from 07:00 until 16:00.

If you can suggest sites or walking tours that would be great.

thanks, Joe

The main sight of Ajaccio is Napoleon Bonaparte's birthplace : musees-nationaux-napoleoniens.org/en//homes/… Perhaps some excursions will be organized to places of natural beauty, Le Col de Bavella for example. Otherwise you could just wander around the town, or go to a beach. Hope this helps.

You normally land in Ajaccio very close to the town, and it is easy and pleasant to walk around the town. There are many reminders that this is Napoleon's birthplace. You can take the tourist "train" around the town if you do not want to walk. I would recommend that you see some of the "real" Corsica and just about the only option is to take one of the ship's tours. The Prunelli Gorges are close to Ajaccio and make a great half day tour as an introduction to a lovely and unique island.
