Cruise travelers

We are coming to Ajaccio in May. We don't want to join the excusion from the boat. We will be Ajaccio from 8:00am - 5:00pm only. Not sure what to do, is there any shopping and/or attaction around the port. Do I need to travel to somewhere else to look around? Is there any suggestion what to do must? and how to go there.

Thanks everyone ^_^

The port is in the centre of town.

The theme of this place is Napoleon.

If you are coming on a Sunday, expect the most peaceful situation, if you can suppress your stomach from rumbling (don´t expect eateries to open).,

If on a Saturday morning, stroll through the farmers market and appreciate the mighty ¨mould¨ in food and bev.

There is a toy train which you can spend an hour on a short coastal excursion.

To go further on the island, the best way is to rent a car, as public transport from another town, being few and far between, won´t let you return before 5 pm.

I share your view about the organised trips from the ship, but if there is one place you SHOULD take a trip it is Corsica. Ajaccio is a very pleasant town and you can enjoy yourselves there, to see anything like the real Corsica you need to take a trip. The Prunelli Gorges are very close and offer a good half day tyour to see a knid of Corsica in miniature, or you may like to consider a longer tour to Les Calanches between Piana and Porto. No practical way of seeing these unless you take the ships tours.

Hello,

I am from Ajaccio so here are some insides.

The port, the old city of Ajaccio, the market pick some goods their (wine, bakeries, charcuterie...). the great Napolean statue (its is walking distance but just, I think the toy train can get you there or a quick taxi drive) .

Then you are bound to go the coastal road for Sanginaires Island and its Tour Genoise. Perfect for the afternoon have to take bus, taxi or toy train.

The cimetery is also special but do not know if you'll have time.

Have a good trip
