Fontainbleu during the end of October

Hello, I will be staying in Fontainbleu during the end of October with my Aunt. Having stayed here a few times and enjoyed Fontainbleu, I thought I would hire a car and do a 5 day road trip perhaps, Chartres, Mont St Michel, do you have any other suggestions, I would really like to see Carcassonnes but perhaps that is too ambitious I do not want to spend my time driving!

I think with only 5 days you'll get the most out of your vacation staying in northern France so Burgundy, Loire, Normandy and Brittany should be your first targets. Get a map so you can see where the places you want are located and use the website www.viamichelin.com to estimate driving times and distances, keeping in mind the times given include no stops nor account for bad weather/traffic.
