Where is bus stop for bus route #42 at Gare du Nord station?

I’m going to take bus route #42 from Gare du Nord station to Eiffel tower.

Where is the exact location of the bus stop at Gare du Nord station?

Where can I find timetable for route #42? (I couldn’t find it on the official transportation website)

I read that I need to buy a bus ticket (€1.90/ single ticket) at Metro station in advance. Where is the exact location of a ticket machine at Gare du Nord station?

Sorry for silly questions. This is my first time in Paris and I have no idea.

I’ll greatly appreciate anyone’s help.

The bus stop is right out the front of the station, with all the other buses starting from Gare du Nord. Follow the signs for buses, then look for 42.

I think this route is sufficiently frequent that you don't really need a timetable.

To get a ticket, first follow the signs to the RER/Metro station and buy a ticket from a machine.

http://www.ratp.fr is the website for Paris transport. If you select your itinerary (choose bus in the advanced selection) you can click on the detail to open a map which will show a street plan of where the stops are. The €1.90 ticket is OK if you will use only this bus when in Paris. Otherwise it would be better to buy a carnet of 10 individual tickets for €14.50 valid on all buses (except to the airports), all métro lines and RER within Paris only. There is also the Navigo Découverte pass for €22.15 (+ issue fee of €5) valid on all public transport in the Paris region (except Le Bus Direct & Orlyval) from Monday to Sunday.

The 42 does not stop in front of the station. It originates at the "gare routière" between the Rue du Faubourg Saint Denis and the transilien/ Ile de France section of the Gare du Nord (opposite side of station from the Eurostar and Thalys platforms). I'm not sure about signage but just head towards the higher number platforms. Direct access from station

Yes, there's an escalator up into the Gare Routière (bus station) which is on the roof above the RER station.

Buses on route 42 run typically about every 10 minutes, but the frequency varies according to the time of day, the day of the week, and the season. Details and a plan of the route are at http://www.ratp.fr/informer/pdf/orienter/f_horaire.php?nompdf=42&loc=bus_paris

The hotel is between two stops and complicated because of one-way streets. I'd get off at "Rue Rouelle" stop on the Rue Lourmel, walk back against the flow of traffic, first left into Rue Beatrice Dessane, and then first right into Rue Viala. . For taking the #42 back towards central Paris, "Dupleix" stop on the odd-numbered side of Rue Desaix @ Boulevard Grenelle.
