Transport from Paris to Versailles on a Sunday

Can anyone tell me if getting from central Paris to Versailles on a Sunday is particularly problematic. Is Sunday a good day to go to Versailles?

Unless things have changed, the trains run on Sunday, there is just a reduced schedule. On the weekends the crowds increase. I don't know what that means this time of year.

Went on a Sunday, no problem with trains. Very easy, just make sure you take the "V" train to Versailles.

Do a search on the VERSAILLES PASSPORT. A very handy combination ticket that is valid for metro/train/entry to chateau.

Saves money too.

l'afrique is giving you a good tip. When are you traveling? If during the "fountain show" season (April 1st-September 30th), the Le Transilien passport is worth it at 25€ or 16€ in low season. Including line by-pass, RT train transportation, all audioguides, and extra apartments not otherwise available. Even if you plan on a Museum Pass, you will still break even with all the extra costs of the day..

Somewhere on this forum someone said they had trouble getting the passport on a Sunday. I think it can be purchased ahead of time--we got ours at Chatelet on a Saturday.

This "passport"that is talked of is called a " Forfaits Loirsirs" and if you google it you will find the site easily.

One note, to purchase such a pass it is easiest to go to a metro station with a manned kiosk, but on Sunday we encountered no staff on, so had to fiddle with machine and could only buy regular ticket. Not all stations are unmanned on Sunday I think , but some are, so probaly best to buy day before .

Thanks for all the great advice. We are planning on visiting Versailles on Sunday 23rd December - does this affect your advice regarding the passport type ticket? There are four of us - two adults and two children (9yrs and 7yrs). Thanks again.

Nice attitude Joan1. I was just wandering if there were any additional considerations for travelling during the holiday season. The website has no information on this.
