For Chenenceau, Azay le Rideau and Amboise times and prices see (click on links in the text) france-for-visitors.com/loire/which-chateaux…

For Blois check this itinerairesbis.com/choix_monde/…blois.htm

Google took too long for me to find one for Chambord that showed times and dates

I also would like to hear which Son et Lumiere shows are the best. We can only see one, so I want it to be a good one. Also, does anyone know what the seating is for these? Do you bring your own blanket or chair, or what? Thanks.

Chateau de CHAMBORD--

Chateau de CHENONCEAU--

Chateau de AZAY-le-RIDEAU--

Chateau de BLOIS--

For one-stop chateau shopping, try--

I don't think that Chambord, Chenoinceau or Blois have night illuminations. The night illumionations/tours in summer may prove problematic unless you are planning of staying overnight in the area. Since Sunset isn't until wllafter 9 PM most summer nightrs, the illuminations will begin later in the evenings. But for Azay-le-Rideau, the admission is 9 Euro for adults, 5 Euro for students and Free for children 12 and under.

The websites I mentioned above say that there is some form of illumination at Chenenceau and Blois in Summer

Chenenceau - france-for-visitors.com/loire/which-chateaux…

"In July and August, as part of the "Nocturne Chenonceau", the gardens and Chteau are lit up between 10pm and 11.30pm, with atmosphere provided by classical music played through speakers."

Tarifs :

Plein tarif = 11,5

Tarif rduit = 8

Tarif enfant de 611 ans = 5

Tarif groupe (+ 20 personnes) = 8,5 "

There are also numerous references to a spectacular display in summer at Chambord if you google Chambord + "son et lumiere" but I could not find times more specific than the months, nor a mention of prices. Here is a description from one site:

"In July and August we can ... witness spectacular laser shows, projections and music and performance displays. Some of these, in true French style, border on the bizarre, but if you have ever seen a 150 foot red and white salamander (the symbol of Francois I) moving across the gardens of the chteau, it tends to stick in the memory" see thechaingang.co.uk/cycling-holidays/loire-va…

"...equestrian "Son et Lumiere" spectacle in full Renaissance and Louis XIV costumes, from May to September." see http://www.francemonthly.com/n/0302/index.php

As a chateau, if you only see one, Chambord is the biggest and most impressive outside. I don't know about the Sound and light shows though

We saw the sound and light show at Blois, and it was fabulous. It told the history of the chateau with narration, light, and giant projections on the walls. There was no seating--everyone just stood in the courtyard (but you could probably bring a blanket and sit if it's not too crowded). I believe it was around 8.50 Euro for adults, not sure for children. On Wednesday nights the show is presented in English (which we found out when we lucked out and went on a Wednesday). If you don't speak French, I'm not sure how interesting it would be or how easy to follow on other nights. I think it started at around 10:15 and lasted about 45 minutes, so that might be something to consider for your young children. Otherwise, I would highly recommend it!
