Decent cup of Tea

Hi there,

Will I be able to get a decent cup of tea in Paris? I dont drink coffee, but really need my tea in the morning. Should I make sure to pick up some extra in London earlier in the trip?

Usually I go with the local custom, but I really do need that 1st cup of tea to get me going.

Thanks

Tanya

I have heard that tea in Paris is not very good, so I drank coffee, but if you have tea making facilities in your hotel room making your own would probably be your best bet!

Tea making facilities is not common in France compared to the UK.

In case, you're staying in the Marais or in Saint-Germain-des-Pres, Mariage Freres is THE places.

In France, Mariage Freres is the tea center of the universe. The store in the Marais, 30 rue du Bourg Tibourg in the 4th, has a tea room that is well worth the possible 15 minute wait to get in.

I can't seem to get beyond the home page for Mariage Freres website....I'm assuming that there's more right? All it would let me do is choose a language and I couldn't get beyond that. Am I missing something?

Actually, CatJones has just informed me that the best place for tea is OUR HOUSE in 75020. So you'll have to call around here !

It'll probably be free too :)

Out of curiosity, how do the French make tea? The Americans make it completely differently to us in the UK which is why British people always complain that the tea in the US is foul!
