TGV train from Paris to Nice- Where: Help?

I have railbest tickets on the TVG from Paris to Nice on July 5th. This is our first time. Where do we get this TVG?

Someone told me it was at CDG Airport. Is this true? If so, where?

Thank-you so much. Also how early should we arrive for a 11:46 departure?

Thank-you!!!!

Train departures for Nice could be at CDG train station or at Gare de Lyon, so you have to check your tickets. The departure train station is always written on train tickets!!!

OK I checked for you already. At 11:46am, it is at Gare de Lyon.

You can arrive 15' to 20' before departure, as the trains arrives at the platform 20' maximum before departure.

Mickey - We took the TGV from Paris to Avignon and the ticket told us which station from which to depart. Does your ticket not tell you? We departed from Gare de Lyon, heading south. Perhaps this will be your station, as well.

Sorry if I am joking, may be it is the first time in your life that you take a train, isn't it?

Hi Mickeym0use,

TGV (and not TVG, train grande vitesse) are the high-speed French trains...

It is true there is a TGV station located at Terminal 2 of the CDG, but there are other stations too in Paris from where the TGVs depart to other cities in France....So it could be one or the other...If you already have a ticket, the departing station would be mentioned on your ticket....

You may arrive at 11.30 for a 11.46 departure. It would be better, depending on where you are arriving from, how and traffic, that you should keep at least half an hour between your arrival at the station and train departure.

Hope this helps :)

The train platforms for the south will be shown on the big overhead displays once you enter the Gare de Lyon. Unless things have changed, the TGV for Nice will leave from an area to the far left of the main station, through a wide archway. Look on the signs next to the track to find the number of your coach; that will tell you where to stand.

You can buy decent baguette sandwiches in the area adjacent to the platform--much better than paying the prices on the train.

Thank-you to everyone. You saved us a big problem!!!!

One more question: What is the best way (cheapest, fastest)to get from the Louvre area, where our hotel is, to the Gare de LYon train station?

Thank-you again!!!!
