Airport transports

Hi. I am planning a Budget VAcation to Paris Zurich and London this december.

I am planning my flight from Singapore and before i decide which city i shd fly to first, i hope fellow members could advise me.

WHich airport has public transport such as buses or trains to the city? TO keep my costs low i would need to know which airport is cheaply accessible.

I have heard that the only way to get to London from Heathrow is by taxi and it normally costs a bomb.

Is it the same with CHG and Zurich airport?

Anyone with experience please advise me.

Appreciate your help! Thanks a bunch!

Hi Shamalah

Firstly you need to divide your post and ask the questions in the relevant forums ie Paris, London & Zurich.

As Heathrow is one of my 'local'airports I can help you with that though.

Of course you can get into central London other than by taxi. There's the Heathrow Express Train

https://www.heathrowexpress.com/index.asp?SID={B11648E8-16C9-4D71-82BA-4B89A6DDC3AD}

£14.50 single and £28 return at the moment.

The 'tube' ie the London Underground system. a single cash fare is £4.

And National Express coaches (bus).

www.nationalexpress.com

Single fare is £4.

To name the most obvious routes.

You will have to do your research as only your know your exact dates and if you want single or return fares.

As to Paris you can take an RER train into central Paris from Terminal 2, fare about 8.20 euros or Air France runs a number of buses in the 12 euros to 16 euros single range and Roissy bus is about 8.40 euros.

No idea about Zurich. I'm sure an internet or Zurich Forum search will sort that out.

I would say that getting from the aiport to the city is much the same wherever you go. I would look at the best international fare for my dates and how I plan on, and the ease of, getting between these cities.

CDG - has access to the RER line B that you can take into Paris center. I travel this line since my in laws live near the airport. I dont have trouble on it. but i have seen tourist who do not know metro etiquette and in turn have trouble with other passengers. If you dont have too much baggage you should be fine. Just remember if you are seated near the doors and are in those seats that fold down. Get up if the doorways get crowded.
