Question?

Direct from NY. Always thought the cheapest time to fly to Paris was before May. Does anyone know of any good deals for the next 4 mos? Have always been pleased with Airfrance but they fares seem to have skyrocketed in May.

Thanks,

NYChubby

1. Re: Question?

Yeah, usually fares are cheaper over Jan-March, and mid-Nov-December, except for holiday periods. Check some 'comparison' sites like Travelzoo, Orbitz, Kayak... I always book directly with an airline's site, though - don't trust the consolidators very much.

Also, traveling on Tues-Thurs is usually a few bucks less than traveling on Fri-Sun...

Also, many airline sites have 'my dates are flexible' type of matrix, where you can see how the fares are different during a month or two timeframe.

3. Re: Question?

I see fares like this for MARCH on these airline sites:

Continental (Newark) $519 + taxes >> $629

US Air (LGA) $519 + taxes >> $643

Delta (JFK) $581 + taxes >> $672

I really don't think May is 'off season'.

Thanks Travelnutty. Out of the airlines you mentioned, which one do you recommend? Also thinking of staying in the 6th this time. Which 3 star and up hotels do you recommend? Don't want to spend more than 4oo us dollars a night. Really want that parisian feel in hotel and neighborhood. Do you recommend the 6th?

Thanks

5. Re: Question?

We just went on Continental Oct 28/Nov 5, and it was very nice. No reason not to take them, unless it will cost more to reach the Newark airport than is the price difference b/t CO and the other airlines. I really don't hate or love any one particular airline - those 3 are the ones I use from Florida, and they're all fine.

I don't stay in the 6th but it is very popular and a nice area, and quite central. Hotels cost a little more there than in some areas but you won't have to spend $400 to have a nice one. The rates I provided are for a double room in March. These get good reviews:

Hotel Saint Paul (Rive Gauche) 140-236€
