EasyCar rental

Does anyone have experience with EasyCar? They seem to have good rates.

We plan to rent a car at CDG, then drive around Normandy for 5 days, returning the car near where we are staying in Paris (Porte Maillot area). Or, is there another car rental company that you suggest?

I suggest you at least get a quote from Autoeurope:

www.autoeurope.com

Other you might want to try:

http://www.autofrance.net/

http://www.france-car-hire-rental.com/

http://www.interrent.com/

I prefer to use one of the major companies, which often cost no more if booked in advance. Have a look at

www.europcar.fr

www.hertz.fr

I have just seen a comment elsewhere that suggests that EasyCar rates include a fairly limited number of kilometres, with a fairly high charge per km after that. Check on this, as it might mean the rate is not as good.

Thanks for the suggestions. The next best rates were from Sixt. Does anyone have any experience with that company?

With easycar in France, you will get a quote with Europecar. I rented 2 times with them. They are just a brooker like autoeurope. But the only use EuropeCar.

If you can read french, go to

agence.voyages-sncf.com/location-voiture.aspx

The always have a good deal with Hertz.

Don't try to go to the English version, you can't acces car rental frome there.

We used Autoeurope with an 800 number here in the US plus much support in Europe. First timme renting a car for pickup in France but I like the quick contact and the apparent ease of the transaction. We looked at several others but these guys seemed more professional somehow. I won't know for sure until May.....

We rented through autoeurope last February via the US 800 number and the rate was very good esp since we did not require the insurance. Only problem in Avignon, the agent would not give us a car unless we did take out the insurance. Has anyone had similar experience?

Not at all.

There is no requirement to include insurance on a rental, particularly as most credit cards include collision as part of the advantages of using their card for the rental. Simply noting as such by initially the appropriate box on the rental form is all than should be required.

There can be additional fees which may not be included in the rental quote you receive from Autoeurope. For example the 12€ (approximately) road tax is usually not included nor is the 20-25€ airport/train station pickup fee.

Sarastro,

At the time we just thought it was a "bait and switch" kind of deal. But I have often wondered if we were scammed, and that particular agent may just pocketed the money after we had no insurance claims. A friend had the car in his name, and he did not get anywhere with his complaints upon return. He's now adament not to use them again when we return this winter.
