The Paris Mapguide by Michael Middleditch

(but I'm also taking the Michellin Green Guide and Clotilde's Edible Adventures in Paris)

While in Paris, just go by the Tourist Office and get their handbook "Paris for You", very lightweight, has sights and museum listings, addresses, etc.

Also in .pdf format on their website:

I always have the Paris MapGuide with me, but consider it a map, not a tour guide. Also, l'Indispensible 3-Plans.

And, I take more than one tour guide: Eyewitness Top 10, Access Paris, at a minimum, and usually one or more others.

I recently used " Insight Guides: Paris Step By Step." I really liked it--small enough for a large pocket and includes a great map.

Rick Steves. Has all useful tips and we got around Paris with no problem. I highly recommend it.

I'd take the Michelin Green Guide to Paris. But before leaving I'd read through the Eyewitness Guide to Paris and photocopy some of the segments on neighborhoods to take along.

I take no guide book - they're too heavy. I tear out the pages appropriate for my itinerary, clip them together, pack them in a ZipLock bag with my maps, and go on my way.

Note that many tour guides and maps (web pages and other valuable information) can be downloaded to any number of electronic devices (for me it's a Palm Centro).
