VAT Tax Refund

I was looking forward to some shopping in Paris. I've been trying to read up on the VAT Tax refund procedure. But i am still confused!

I will be leaving Paris to Switzerland via train. I understand there is no customs at the Gare De Lyon and Gare Du Nord train stations.

I intend to do my shopping in cash mostly. So I think I will have no problem getting cash refund at the Tax Refund offices downtown or in Galeries. My problem is getting the documents stamped by the customs!

Are there any other alternatives or are there no other ways at all?

Would appreciate if anyone can shed some light on this. Many thanks in advance!

Hi Tiara,

I've got the same problem.

I posted my problem on other forum and got the reply with the following link.

I'm still confuse if there are no checks on board the TGV Lyria train, can I put the form in the Customs box in Switzerland without stamped.

This might help http://www.ricksteves.com/plan/tips/vat.htm

Make sure the item still has its tags and has not been used. Also remember it is a total purchase at a single store on a single day--not accumulated over the trip of 175 euro parisescapes.com/paris_department_vat_refund…
