Eiffel Tower and Boat trip

Hi i am going with my mum to Paris for 3 days in May.

Would like to go up the Eiffel Tower and was thinking of booking tickets online so we avoid the queues. Is this worth it? Also my mum read somewhere that you can walk up the tower instead of using the lifts. Is this correct and is it worth it and is it tiring?

What is the best time to visit the Tower?

Would like to do a boat trip on the Seine. When is the best time of the day and what company should we use?

Thanks for your help

Just for the record--don't waste your money on the dinner boat trip. Just go down to the docks for the regular boat ride. In the evening it is beautiful--City of Lights!

Here are the options. The Bateau Mouche was the original company, now it is a name by which they are collectively known:

This is a great way to see a lot of Paris. Suggestion to skip the dinner cruise is well taken.

You can walk up to the first two levels off the Eiffel Tower. But to go to the top you need a lift ticket.

The stairs are pretty nice - open air but totally fenced in. Not to hard if you are in ok shape. The line to go up the stairs is much shorter than the lift.
