What would be a good hotel to stay at in Paris? Is the Eiffel Capitol hotel a good hotel? What about the Holiday Inn Republique?

You might want to check out the reviews by typing each hotel name into the search box on the left.

The location looks nice on the Eiffel Capitol, but the reviews aren't so good. The Holiday Inn has better reviews but is slightly more expensive.

In my opinion, the location is better on the Eiffel, but if the hotel is inferior then it's a tough choice. Maybe someone on the boards will have first hand experience with either, but in the meantime definitely check out the reviews, maps and photos of each of them.

Are the room rates on those hotels indicative of your budget? Which would be...

150€ / double..?

It depends on what kind of hotel you are looking for. I can recommend some newly open hotels like Hotel Apostrophe, rue de Chevreuse, rive Gauche. Stunning design. Only 16 rooms. see http://apostrophe-hotel.com

or

in champs Elysées the really trendy chic hotel Champs Elysees Plaza see (http://trendy-chic-hotel-champs-elysees-plaza.com )

hope it is helpful

Holiday Inn republique is nice. It is quite big though and located a bit outside of the sights and things to see. But still within walking distance.

This may be out of your budget but I recommend Hotel Abbaye. I think you can only book on their site which is http://www.hotelabbayeparis.com/ the place is really really friendly and the staff take care for you like a palace luxury hotel. I have only managed to stay there a few times but when I go for a GOOD stay then I go there.

If you want something cheaper I can say from experience that http://www.paristaylorhotel.com/ is pretty OK, it's a 3 star hotel with some character and romance.

Otherwise it really depends on your budget. Remember that location is not the biggest problem as the Metro network is so vast that you can get to almost anywhere in Paris within 30 minutes.
