I am planning my first trip to Paris in Sept 2011. I will be travelling solo and will be staying for 13 nights. I've narrowed my apartment rental choices down to two and could really use some help deciding between them.
The first one is on Rue de Foin in the center of Marais. It's on a quiet street on the 2nd floor, has a bathtub and shower, but a tiny kitchen.
The second one is on the corner of Blvd Saint Germain and Rue de Sein in the Saint Germain area. It's on the 6th floor with no lift and has a shower only.
Obviously I'll have to decide for myself how important things like bathtubs and showers and stairs are for me, but I could really use some help chosing the best location for my interests.
I would like to be close to the Seine so I can take advantage of the Balobus. I plan on visiting the main tourist sites and am also planning on taking a few cooking courses while I'm there. I'm not interested in expensive fine dining or partying at the nightclubs. Oh yes - I also speak almost no French. I'd like to be in a neighborhood that has great shops, markets, and casual cafes and bistros. And it would be great to be near a supermarket for purchasing everyday needs. Both apartments have kitchens and I hope to cook and eat in some nights. I have a budget of about $150 US per day for sightseeing, shopping and dining.
Any thoughts on which apartment rental would put me in the best location for my interests? Also, any suggestions for safe, fun things to do at night for a single, 49 year old woman?
