Ice Skating on the Eiffel Tower?

I have seen pictures of ice skating on the Eiffel Tower, and was wondering anyone local knew about it?

From the ET website - "The ice rink will be open to the public every day from 10h30 to 22h30, from 15 December 2010 to Wednesday 9 February 2011. Free access to the monument for visitors. Skates for hire (customers may not bring their own skates)."

galway_gal's information is correct.

The ice-rink at the Hôtel de Ville will also be open between 17 December and 27 February, from noon to 22:00 on weekdays and 09:00 to 22:00 on weekends and holidays. Free to all with a €5 charge for skate rental.

Apparently there will be no skating rink at Montparnasse this year.

D'oh! The skating's AT the Tower! I had just woken up earlier and I was imagining people skating on ice-covered girders or something. It makes sense now.

The ice-rink is on the first level of the Tower itself, not at ground level. (I seem to recall that there is also a rink at the Trocadéro. Is my memory playing tricks with me?) (Again... ;-))

That's interesting, I didn't realise there was an ice rink on the E.Tower during this time. Does it cover most of the first floor? Do you have to climb the stairs?

jdbri, aren't you the funny one! As stated, it IS on the first floor of the Eiffel Tower, not on the metal frame, and not on the ground!!! The pictures I have seen online are fantastic! I just couldn't find any info on cost, times, etc. Thanks for the replies. I still am not sure about the cost. Can you prebook online does anyone know? Have they always done this? We lived in Paris a few years ago, and I had no idea...our kids would have loved it...me too!

This site says that personal skates ARE allowed. No prices though.

I've just answered my own question about the size of rink as well.
